This assessment provides 65% of the module grade. For this client report you will adopt the role of a sport scientist specialising in nutrition for health, fitness and sport. This assessment is an evaluation of your clients’ dietary intake. Your client can be a classmate or anybody else you know who may be interested in receiving non-clinical dietary advice. Since the client report should be written to your client, the language used should be appropriate for an individual who has a basic understanding of sports science and nutrition. YOU MUST: Record and analyse your client’s dietary intake data using appropriate methods. The focus should be on the total energy intake and then the contribution from macro- and micronutrients.Record and analyse relevant basic anthropometric measures.Frequently use relevant and contemporary references to support assessments and recommendations.The report should include the following sections:Client overview – Provide an anonymous introduction to your client and an overview of your client’s goals from your initial consultation with them;Results – Provide an overview of your client’s presentation (e.g. total energy intake, breakdown of macro- and micronutrient consumption, fluid intake, basic anthropometric measures, metabolic rate and estimated physical activity levels, supported by relevant illustrations of the data in a format of your choice to present a critical review of the data. Take care to research and use appropriate standards and norm values to compare nutritional intakes. The focus should be on your client’s dietary intake. You should also consider type, timing and volume of ingestion in relation to your client’s activities.For extra value you should also provide some indication of your client’s physical activity / exercise training profile and energy expenditure, using an appropriate method, to evaluate the inter-relationships between nutritional variables, energy-balance and your client’s health / body composition / performance.Nutritional plan – Provide evidence-based and detailed nutritional recommendations for your client to improve their dietary intake and meet their goals outlined during your consultation. You can choose to focus on your client’s health and/or sporting performance depending on information obtained during consultation. You must utilise relevant literature and this should be the longest section of your report. Additional Recommendations: Here you may choose to provide additional physical activity and/or exercise training recommendations for your client. These must clearly be linked to aspects of your client’s health-related fitness and/or body composition data.
