Written assignments must not exceed the specified maximum number of words. When a written assignment is marked, the excessive use of words beyond the word limit is reflected in the academic judgement of the piece of work which results in a lower mark being awarded for the piece of work.Assignment submissions are to be made anonymously. Do not write your name anywhere on your work.Write your student ID number at the top of every page; for presentations, please give your tutor your ID number at the beginning of the presentation.You must number all pages. Total word count: 500 words. Details: You will need to create a scientific poster and submit it to Turnitin by Monday 19th April 2pm BST The Poster: The poster must be based on a peer reviewed scientific journal article. You must select this article and send it to your lecturer for approval by Monday 22nd March. It can be on any topic relating to something studied in this element, e.g. immunology, the nervous system. You can submit a draft version of your poster into Turnitin. Your tutor will make 1 or 2 brief comments on this once. Deadline for Draft version is Friday 26th March. Think of a subject you are interested in. eg. Diabetes & eye sight, endometriosis, Oedema and heart failure, Muscle repair after over stretched muscles, Pacemaker failure, recovery from hypothermia, Diabetes and leg amputation, Muscular sclerosis and nerve action, hormone replacement therapy, Parkinson’s disease and nervous system etc. Using KEYWORDS Find an ACADEMIC ARTICLE from an academic journal. The poster you will create will give a brief account of the academic article BUT it also MUST be linked with a topic we have covered in Physiology. You must show me that you have understood the topic well enough to explain the physiology that relates to your chosen article. For example “High intensity training increases Vmax in distance cyclists” might be an article that is full of details on Vmax & Maximal expiratory flow etc. You could really give a good account of the article but if you do not explain how oxygen diffuses into the blood stream then I would not be sure if you actual understood the physiology behind this article. SO I would expect to see some diagrams and a clear account of the action of the lungs. Please select an experimental study for your poster. Your selected article should include the following sections: AbstractIntroductionMethodologyResultsDiscussionReferences AIM: To allow students to demonstrate expertise in one of the topics covered in the course and communicate their understanding of academic literature.
