Thereport will present a showcase skills covered in class lectures with a minimum of 1500words. The report should be based on a minimum of 3 peer reviewed papers fromthe chosen research field. A full bibliography and correct citations are also required.To construct your literature review you can use guidelines from the lecture notes andpower-point slides to find papers and journals relevant to your chosen topic. Lists of webresources are included in the lecture notes. Your are not required to check your topicwith the tutor but it is highly recommended.2.1 Report format and technical guidelinesFor your Written report 1, you will use the LiteratureReview.tex template found inthe LaTeX on the vuws site.2.2 Working with MikTex compilerTo setup LaTeX and run the LaTeX template on your computer:1. Download and unzip the LaTeX file (Tutorials section on vUWS)12. install LaTeX system using links and instructions given in tutorial notes (Latexinstallation)3. open LiteratureReview.tex in your LaTeX editor4. put your references into the .bib file (create your own or use bibtexexample.bibfile)5. Write your literature review in the .tex file, remember to use cite{} or citep{}and not to ‘hardcode‘ references6. when compiling, run pdfLaTex, then BibTeX, then 2×pdfLaTex again to producethe final pdf2.2.1 Compiling/TypesettingBe sure that, after adding a new reference, typeset your document four times:pdfLaTeX ! BibTeX ! pdfLaTeX ! pdfLaTeXYour bibliography will now appear in the style of your choice and your citations will becorrectly formatted. If question marks appear where citations should, that means youneed to LaTeX your document once more. If the citations are entirely missing, you havelikely forgotten to BibTeX your document.2.3 Working with OverleafTo setup LaTeX and run the LaTeX template using Overleaf ( open account on the Overleaf (it’s free)2. Download and unzip the LaTeX file (Tutorials section on vUWS)3. open new project (“New Project” button)4. upload 4 files from the template folder (head.sty, LiteratureReview.tex,wsulogo.jpgand bibtexexamples.bib)5. delete “main.tex” file and set LiteratureReview.tex as the Main Document (“Menu”button)6. open LiteratureReview.tex7. put your references into the .bib file (create your own or use bibtexexample.bibfile)8. Write your literature review in the .tex file, remember to use cite{} or citep{}and not to hardcode references29. to compile your document press “Recompile” buttonThe Literature Review report will be original and individual work and will have aminimum length of 1500 words. It should start with introduction of the topic includingthe main question/problem which you are trying to review, and finish with conclusionwhere you should present your overview of the topic and your main agreements (ordisagreements) with the presented findings.It must contain Abstract and References (or Bibliography) sections. Make surethat sure your citations are done correctly using cite or citep commands. Theinformation on marking criteria for this report is given in the Learning Guide.Finally, submit only the pdf file created by typesetting (it will be in the same folder where your .texfile resides) using vUWS.3
