Subject: Vmware Vsphere 6.7(virtualization) Length: 4000 words TASK Global Healthcare Services (GHS) is a skilled healthcare provider that own and manage 10 respite care and rehabilitation facilities located across Victoria, NSW & Queensland. GHS also provide in the home exercise-based rehabilitation programs through their Exercise Physiology Home Service program. The GHS management services include: facility management, medical professional services, nursing management, infection control, performance improvement, pathology and pharmaceutical services. GHS requires multiple levels of staff and administration to supply these services. Healthcare facilities are responsible for handling huge amounts of data and information systems and electronic medical records are critical to the GHS operation. This data ranges from day-to-day operational information to life and death patient information. The ability to access patient records quickly is critical to the success of the business and the safety of the patients. The systems that support the data requirements of GHS include email and portal systems and more specific applications such as electronic charting software, dietary and meal planning software and nursing and daily patient records systems. GHS’s IT infrastructure has historically been hosted at an offsite and out of state service provider. The hosting provider delivered multiple services to GHS. They hosted Outlook email and they provided server rack space for many of GHS’s servers including their web server, SharePoint server and a SQL server backend for the industry specific and custom applications run as part of the business. They also hosted several critical applications including scheduling software, electronics patient records systems and business-critical financial applications. As GHS has grown however, the hosted solution based on traditional bare-metal hosting has begun to show limitations. GHS want the ability to quickly move on opportunities and be able to make business driven decisions quickly and independent of technology resources. GHS have therefore decided to bring their IT services back under internal control and have been considering a virtualised platform but really don’t know enough about it to make an informed decision. The following Core Requirements have been identified at a high level by GHS IT technical staff. User Requirements 1500 Users – users use desktops, laptops or tablets (with tablet users connecting to Terminal Services for application delivery).500 Concurrent Users (250 running application on Terminal Services, 250 on laptop/desktop PCs)350 Exchange 2013 Users220 MS Office 2016 Users Services and Applications Microsoft Office Professional 2016Exchange 2016Electronic Medical Charting ApplicationFinancial Applications – Accounts Payable and ReceivableSharePoint 2016Dietary and meal planningScheduling softwareRemote application connectivityHelpdesk/User SupportPrinting Services Proposed Servers 5 Terminal Services Servers2 Microsoft Exchange 2016 servers (two-server topology – Exchange Server and Exchange Mailbox Server)1 Microsoft SharePoint 2016 server (this server will utilise the SQL 2016 server for back-end capabilities)1 IIS Web Server (separate to the SharePoint server, used to provide a web front-end to custom applications – access is internal only, no access from the Internet)1 Microsoft Dynamics GP 20182 Centralised File/Print Servers2 Active Directory Domain Controllers with DNS and DHCP services2 Microsoft SQL Server 2016 running in SQL AlwaysOn mode (used by Dynamics GP 2018 and SharePoint 2016 servers)2 RedHat Enterprise Linux servers running MySQL (backend database for custom applications)Your job is to provide GHS with a high-level proposal document, providing a resilient and highly available solution that meets the business’s needs This assessment task will work towards assessing the following learning outcome/s: be able to install and configure VMware virtualisation products such as ESXi and vCenter Server.be able to deploy and manage virtual machines in a VMware vSphere environment.be able to monitor resource usage using vCenter Server.be able to manage higher availability and data protection using vCenter Server. Marking Criteria Technical Overview         Overview of virtualisation.Advantages of virtualisation of their server infrastructure over physical servers.Broad suggestions for software & hardware required to provide a virtualisation platform based on the core requirements they have specified. There is no requirement for VDI, only virtualisation of the server workloads.High level topology diagram to show how the virtualised environment connects to the GHS network and services the users. Network links should be defined at a logical layer for the purposes of showing broad connectivity, detail of the network (Internet, private, network technology, etc) can be ignored.Overview of the technical steps required to virtualise the specified GHS servers.Include proposed troubleshooting steps for basic issues with a virtualised environment – poor performance, servers not available, etc.  Backup and recoverability should be discussed, but detailed design of these processes is out of scope for this report.Include any potential pitfalls or problems you can identify with virtualisation of any of the servers, including recommendations that a server should not be virtualised if that is the case. References: Selection of a range of material which is relevant to the topic. Integration of material sourced from literature to support the ideas expressed in the essay. Minimum of 8 references 4 of which must be relevant, refereed, journal articles located by the student. RATIONALE This assessment task will work towards assessing the following learning outcome/s: be able to install and configure VMware virtualisation products such as ESXi and vCenter Server.be able to deploy and manage virtual machines in a VMware vSphere environment.be able to monitor resource usage using vCenter Server.be able to manage higher availability and data protection using vCenter Server.
