Moreover, there isglobal supply that consist mainly that all the resources are supplied by aoverseas third-party to the company whereas local supply is done in the samecountry where the company is. This two kind of supplies can import fromoverseas which is known as oÖshore or locally as onshore (Masaaki and Murray,2017).The Capstone case study touch several situation when this strategies can beused. Due to a shortage of local accommodation, the Brisbane City Council hasto request to a local third-party (Torrens University) for a place to host theOlympics athletes. This construction of the accommodation building is welllocated near commercial centres and provide the necessary services for theathletes. According to the case study, the project is locates in Brisbane with oneproject management contractor that will manage all the supply. So, it would be a7/6/2021 Thread: Module 3 Discussion: Global Procurement – strategies …https://laureate-au.blackboard.com/webapps/discussionboard/do/message?action=list_messages&course_id=_111530_1&nav=discussion_board&con… 4/8centralized local purchase of onshore supply. The beneÑt would be to avoidhaving a lot of locations for the construction of the building, and can focus all theeÖorts into the purchases of materials on one single place (Smith, 2020).There will be a chain supply due to the demand of certain materials for theconstructions of the building. There is not enough material and the budget isreduced. In this case, the strategy would a Global purchase of oÖshore materialsthat would bring beneÑt such as low prices and good quality from diÖerentsuppliers rather than using the local ones (Smith, 2020).ReferenceKotabe, M., & Murray, J. These two forces shape and drive oureconomy and led to the need to develop new products and beƩer services, inorder to aƩend a crescent demand imposed for new customers. In this context, organizaƟons seek for the opƟmizaƟon of their services and products, in anendless search for the cheapest, the fastest and best way to produce or offersomething. Thus, this global view is influencing the project management pracƟcesadopted within all industry sectors. As defined by Lysons and Farrington “Globalprocurement enables firms to pursue the full potenƟal of internaƟonal sourcingby capitalising on the world’s best suppliers (Lysons and Farrington, 2006)”.As a project manager I would recommend a few strategies as a mean to succeedin projects involving stakeholders from diverse countries and backgrounds. Firstly, the organizaƟon should assemble a group of the most senior leaders for a steeringcommiƩee. Leadership is quite important when procuring contracts and resourcesin a global society. Leaders provide guidance, assistance and have authority todecide. Even in projects that have a long Ɵmeframe, a decisive factor for success isto keep stakeholders informed about the posiƟve results. This keeps them7/6/2021 Thread: Module 3 Discussion: Global Procurement – strategies …https://laureate-au.blackboard.com/webapps/discussionboard/do/message?action=list_messages&course_id=_111530_1&nav=discussion_board&con… 5/8moƟvated which lead to engagement and support for the projects in the long run.Secondly, the organizaƟon should define the right level of management for eachdifferent category. Let us think in a project the involves the supply of a certaincommodity which has a global supply market structure. In this case, theorganizaƟon should think about global category management. On the contrary, facility management requires a more local approach. Finally, another strategy thatI would recommend is the creaƟon of a set of guiding principles for “workingtogether”. The objecƟve is to bring parƟcipants from different parts of the globeto target the same goal, which includes commitment to collaboraƟon.To sum up, managing procurement in a global society requires relevant skills thataim to read the broad and complex picture that involves stakeholders with diverseculture, poliƟcal background, and beliefs. This may be quite daunƟng if not donein a strategic fashion. Therefore, it requires a thoroughly approach perhaps withassistance from a outsourcing specialized consulƟng organizaƟon, with a focus ona cost effecƟve outcome.Reference:Anantatmula, V. In project management, it is currently sought that theprocesses have quality standards that will allow a better execution and offerin products or services. From another perspective, management can be seenas a specific set that connects a variety of resources that meet the needsduring and after the execution of projects (Jeffs, 2019).7/6/2021 Thread: Module 3 Discussion: Global Procurement – strategies …https://laureate-au.blackboard.com/webapps/discussionboard/do/message?action=list_messages&course_id=_111530_1&nav=discussion_board&con… 6/8The success of the projects is determined by the good planning andexecution are given by those in charge of it. That is why as a projectmanager I will focus on giving some particular recommendations for theBowen Terrace, mainly I consider that it is a complex project since it hasdifferent stakeholders, which causes different challenges to be presented indecision-making, for this reason, it is important to articulate theprocurement management with human resources since this way theadequate personnel will be selected for the elaboration of the different tasks(PMBOK® Guide, 2017). In context, those in charge should focus onachieving clarity in acquisitions and contracts concerning materials andother supplies that may be needed for the project, that is why it is importantto implement production strategies that allow verifying and evaluating indetail the use of machinery, equipment and also have control in the supplychain. In project management and procurement different areas allow ProjectManagers to have a better approach regarding the execution of projects. Iconsider that in this project it is important to implement a communicationplan which has different strategies based on the competencies andresponsibilities of each person in charge, since in this way better clarity willbe presented in decision-making and when delegating functions to each ofthe employees (Kerzner, 2019 ).In today’s world, companies must present an approach with qualitystandards at the highest level since this allows them recognition and highdemand for their services and products. In conclusion to the above, it can besaid that Procurement management must implement different strategiesemphasizing human resources, planning and execution of processes, andalso include financial strategies that allow control of the budgets assigned toachieve the expected success in projects.ReferencesA guide to the project management body of knowledge (pmbok® guide).(2017).
